Seeking Redemption

Before teaching at Wheaton Bible Church this morning, I have enjoyed sipping a coffee over Calvin’s Institutes. Here is a gem worth thinking about today:

“If we seek for redemption, we shall find it in his passion; acquittal, in his condemnation; remission of the curse, in his cross (Gal 3:13); satisfaction, in his sacrifice, purification, in his blood; reconciliation, in his descent into hell; mortification of the flesh, in his sepulcher; newness of life in his resurrection, and immorality too; the inheritance of the celestial kingdom, in his entrance into every blessing, in his kingdom; secure anticipation of judgment in his power to judge” (Inst. 1.16.19).
