Journey to the Manger, Advent 2010

Advent Calendar 2010

This year Advent begins on Sunday, November 28th. I would like to recommend a terrific online devotional which is available to you free, to guide your reflection through the upcoming days.

Devotionals have a long history for God’s people. Ancient Israelites established a yearly calendar in response to special feast days. Lectionaries were developed—selected Scriptures to be read week by week and for special religious holidays. The Church gradually created her own lectionaries containing readings from the Old Testament, Psalms, Epistles and Gospels. From the sixth century, Western Christians have been observing Advent as a four-week preparation for Christmas, celebrating our Lord’s Incarnation and looking forward to his victorious return.

The devotional titled Journey to the Manger is produced by faculty members of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Simply click on the above banner to visit the site where you can sign up to receive the free daily devotional (The seminary has promised to not sell or release your personal information).

God’s richest blessings upon you and your family this Advent season as you behold the reality of Jesus Christ!
