Resist the Undertow!

“Resist the undertow!”—words I’d frequently hear from my Dad when driving to the beach or while standing in the ocean. This infamous stream that pulls upon your feet and causes you to gradually drift in unknown directions, is a principle that also applies to our faith. The undercurrent of death pulls upon the souls of humanity, emerging from the wellspring of our sinful hearts, from the world and from the Evil one who swims around like a shark, seeking whom he may devour.

In the following sermon, I offer suggestions from Philippians 3:17-4:1 on how to stand firm, empowered by the resources of God’s grace.
